No, Olivia Newton-John Isn't Dying Of Cancer

Olivia Newton-John Grease

Fear not, Olivia Newton-John is still alive and kicking! The Grease actress was the subject of a nasty rumor at the tail-end of 2018, one that claimed that she had cancer and would soon face "death's door." As the new year loomed ahead, Newton-John wanted everyone to know that she wasn't, in fact, sick. Furthermore, she wanted everyone to know that you shouldn't believe every rumor you see online.

No, she has not [got weeks to live]. You might want to get better sources versus reading tabloids.

That sternly-worded quote didn't come directly from Olivia Newton-John; it was actually from her U.S. representative, Michael Caprio. Her family members, including niece Tottie Goldsmith, also spoke out to say the actress was in good health. It's clear that nobody in Olivia Newton-John's family wants these pesky cancer illness/death rumors to persist online. As reported by News.com.au, the "sick" rumor that Newton-John is ill and has mere weeks to live is total and utter rubbish.

Meanwhile, to further confirm that she is alive and well, Olivia Newton-John also posted a video on Twitter, assuring everyone that she's doing just fine!

So there you have it! No need to spread any more wrong-headed hearsay and gossip. Olivia Newton-John is fine, she assures us, and we hope that she is still with us for a long, long time. Based on the video she posted on social media to ring in the new year, Olivia appears to be chipper and well.

There is no shortage of death hoaxes online, and even the biggest celebrities in the world sometimes find themselves at the center of a false rumor mill suggesting they are dead or soon awaiting the kiss of death. Thankfully, however, we don't have to worry about Olivia Newton-John. It appears that she is doing alright, thank you very much, and she would like it if you didn't keep spreading around fake rumors claiming that she's on the way out.

Meanwhile, Randy Slovacek, the social media manager for the actress/musician, also released a statement about these death rumors. Slovacek said:

We have stated over and over again publicly she's feeling better. People just seem to want to believe some dramatic turn.

It would certainly be a devastating loss if these reports about Olivia Newton-John's failing health were true. But it appears it's not quite as "dramatic" as the tabloids make it seem. Hopefully, there are only good reports to make about Newton-John in the future. Nobody wants these rumors to be true.

We're glad to know Olivia Newton-John is doing well, and we hope she continues to find good fortunes in the new year.
