Michael J. Fox Just Got His First Tattoo At 57

Everyone gets their first tattoo at a different age. Some folks get them early in life -- like when they are in their late teens, for instance, and they are first legally allowed to get ink permanently sketched onto their skin. Some people will wait until they are in college (maybe even after a few drinks, too; we are not judging). Sometimes, it is prompted by a pivotal point in their lives, or a mid-life crisis, or they just finally get the gumption to get themselves a tattoo. Or, sometimes, people finally decide to get a tattoo just for the hell of it. There is no shortage of reasons for getting a tattoo after a certain age.

It's unclear what prompted Michael J. Fox to get his first tattoo at the age of 57, but the Back to the Future actor is now walking around with fresh ink. Am I the only one who is a little disappointed that Michael J. Fox opted for a turtle as the creature in his first tattoo instead of, you know, a fox? No matter. It's a great looking tattoo, and Fox is clearly proud of it. As he admits in the Instagram post, however, the reason for why he decided to get it -- particularly at his age -- is a "long story." We suppose we're going to hear that story another day. In any case, Fox crossed the item off his bucket list.

You never know what the future might hold for Mr. Fox.

Even though Michael J. Fox didn't get his first tattoo until late in the game, there's always the possibility that he might want to get another one in the future. And who knows? Maybe he'll keep getting impressed to get ink. We might be looking at a brand new Michael J. Fox in 2019? Time will soon tell.

It's hard to know if Michael J. Fox's recent tattoo is a one-time thing or the start of something new for the beloved actor. But in any case, Fox appears to be happy with the first tattoo, and that's the start.
