Joe Jonas And Sophie Turner Got Married In Vegas
Sin City is known for a lot of things. As the old saying goes, what happens in Vegas tends to stay in Vegas. But those rules don't often apply when it comes to weddings (at least, typically) — particularly when it involves two well-known celebrities. As it was revealed this week, engaged couple Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner decided to ring the wedding bells early with a surprise Vegas wedding. While they were planning to get married sometime this year, it sounds like they did not want to wait much longer. Here's what we know about the Vegas ceremony.
As it was reported by TMZ, Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas decided to celebrate their love with a ceremony that was notably a little less lavish than the one shared between Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra. Shortly after the Jonas Brothers performed at the Billboard Music Awards on Wednesday night, the musician and actress decided to make the evening an especially memorable one by heading down to the Little White Wedding Chapel and saying their vows in their humble quarters. And they weren't alone for their ceremonies.
Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner were joined by an unusual wedding guest: an Elvis impersonator. This faux Elvis — known as Reverend Elvis — was there to officiate the celebrity wedding, and it seems that the wedding was a lot more casual than your average celebrity ceremony. For instance, Sophie Turner was wearing slacks to the ceremony. Nevertheless, it was inside the Chapel L'Amour this spontaneous night that Joe Jonas and Sophia Turner read their vows and celebrated their commitment to love.
It should also be noted that this Elvis impersonator, who also goes by the name Jesse Grice, serenaded the recently-married couple with a rendition of "Viva Las Vegas" once they said their "I dos." It should also be noted that the wedding happened to fall on the 52nd anniversary of Elvis and Priscilla. It's unclear if that was coincidental or planned, but that is a neat added bonus.
Additionally, Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner didn't exactly have the proper wedding bands to make it totally official. But they had a fun alternative to serve as makeshift rings: Ring Pops. Certainly, they'll get something a little more official later down the road, but it served as a fun reminder that these nuptials were, shall we say, looser and more casual than your average wedding. Particularly compared to your typical celebrity wedding ceremony.
Meanwhile, the wedding ceremony was pretty sparse as far as these things go, but Joe Jonas was joined by his brothers, Kevin and Nick, who were on hand to watch their brother and fellow bandmate walk down the aisle with his future bride. Additionally, Khalid and Diplo were also there to watch Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner celebrate their love for one another. All things considered, it sounds like it was a fun and charming little wedding.
In any case, while their ceremony was rather unorthodox, Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner are officially husband-and-wife. Meanwhile, it's unclear if they'll follow in Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra's footsteps and have another wedding ceremony or two in the future, particularly with more family members in attendance. If that happens, we'll certainly be sure to keep you posted on the details right here at CinemaBlend.
