Ann Romney Explains How Horses Changed Her Life After The MS Diagnosis
Prior to the Olympics, a lot of jokes were made about Mitt Romney owning horses and what that says about his affluence, but largely lost in the conversation was why the presidential candidate purchased the animals. His longtime wife, Ann, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis fourteen years ago. The horses gave her a reason to get out of bed and an exciting excuse to exercise and work on her flexibility. This morning, during her much hyped appearance on Good Morning America, the sixty-three-year-old talked about the horses alongside paralympian Becca Hart who also has benefited from equine therapy.
Here’s a look at what the potential First Lady had to say, courtesy of US Magazine…
People expect a lot from presidential candidates. What they expect out of their wives is likeability and honesty. Ann came off as both of those things this morning during her appearance, which isn’t a huge surprise since she’s gotten a lot of practice campaigning over the past year. It sounds like the horses were that boost she needed to continue fighting for her mobility. It’s wonderful to see how confident and mobile she is fourteen years later.
There’s still no word on whether Michelle Obama will follow in Ann’s footsteps and co-host Good Morning America, but we should know in the near future.
