Avril Lavigne And Brody Jenner Split Up

In the minds of the people who get them, matching tattoos between loved ones is a way of expressing utmost commitment, telling the world in a way far more permanent than a wedding band that your love is forever. To the rest of the world, of course, it seems like a sign that things are inevitably going to go wrong-- Johnny Depp and his Winona Forever tattoo can tell you that much. So when reading E!'s news about Avril Lavigne and Brody Jenner splitting up, all you need to do is read down to the section about the tattoos they debuted shortly into their relationship, then nod your head and say "Yeah. I pretty much saw that coming."

Pseudo-punk rock star Lavigne and The Hills reality star Jenner had been an item for about two years, and rumor has it she was itching for marriage while he wasn't quit ready. It would have been Lavigne's second marriage, after her three-year union with Sum 41 singer Deryck Whibley, but apparently 27 years old is not at all too young to be married twice. There doesn't seem to be any official confirmation of the split from either Lavigne or Jenner's camps, and since they were just dating there won't be any divorce papers to pore over, so we may wind up only being able to speculate over what caused the breakup. Well, beyond "Doomed to failure" matching tattoos, that is. He had one of her name on his arm, she had one of his name on her torso-- in an incredibly painful spot on her ribcage, actually. That's going to be a nightmare to get removed.
