Axl Rose Says No To Hall Of Fame, Stupid Or Admirable?
We’re just days away from the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, and after much speculation, Axl Rose has officially decided he’s out. Not only is the lead singer not attending the celebration for Guns N Roses, he’s refusing his nomination. He doesn’t want to be inducted in absentia, and he sure as hell doesn’t want anyone speaking for him.
All this was made clear in a letter Rose sent to the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame and released to the media today. In the incredibly long and surprisingly honest communication, the musician admits he’ll take a public beating for his decision but also makes it clear he’s none too pleased about which members the committee chose to honor and which they left off. You can check out an excerpt of his communication below, courtesy of The Los Angeles Times…
I understand there’s a lot of pent-up animosity and hard feelings here, but it baffles me that Rose can’t put them aside for one night. It doesn’t matter how much he might hate Slash, or whether Duff and Izzy are still in the band. Those are the guys Axl got famous with. They’re the ones who toured the world at the height of Guns N Roses, and I fail to see how making a stink and putting one’s foot down is somehow more appropriate in this circumstance. Then again, Axl has made a good living sticking to his guns. Maybe he really does know what's best.
What do you think? Should Axl Rose put everything aside and show up to play a song with his old bandmates? Let us know your thoughts by voting in the poll below…
