Carrie Underwood Would Rather Shop And Do Laundry Herself
Life might be easier for Carrie Underwood now that she’s not a waitress at a pizzeria, but that doesn’t mean she’s lost her Oklahoma work ethic. While other stars support their lives with assistants to take care of domestic responsibilities, the American Idol winner is much more comfortable doing as much as she can by herself. She insists on still taking care of all the shopping and even does her own laundry while on tour.
Speaking in a new interview to Oprah Winfrey that will air Sunday on OWN, the singer told the former talk show host she heads to a laundromat along with the other performers whenever there’s an off-day on the road because that’s how she’s more comfortable living.
Another thing that also freaks Underwood out is apparently being married. She’s getting used to the transition with hockey player husband Mike Fisher, but all those years of single life still have a way of affecting her thinking. She told Oprah she still struggles to remember to say “we” and give Fisher credit for birthday gifts they’re giving together.
Those little details will surely become natural as the years turn into decades, but if Underwood has any say in the matter, her willingness to work hard and take responsibility for her own life won’t change. She’ll always fill up her own cart and sort the colored clothes from the whites just as anyone else would.
