Chad Johnson's Wife Files For Divorce After Domestic Violence Incident
Well, that didn’t last long. After a little more than one month of less-than-blissful marriage, wide receiver Chad Johnson and his wife, Evelyn Lozada, are headed for divorce court. She officially submitted her paperwork this morning, and if the last few days are any indication, there will be no reconciliation.
Over the weekend, police were called to the couple’s home after a scary domestic violence incident. The former Pro Bowler supposedly headbutted his wife in the face, causing a three-inch laceration. She allegedly ran to a neighbor’s house and hid while he got in his car and drove around the neighborhood looking for her. He was later arrested. VH1 cancelled the reality show, and now, the marriage is rapidly heading toward its end. It certainly wasn’t the first month-and-a-half they pictured, but given what’s happened, maybe it really is best to throw in the towel.
According to TMZ, there is a prenuptial agreement in place, but even if there wasn’t, she wouldn’t really be entitled to any money given how quickly the marriage ended. So, without any real assets to split up, the divorce proceedings should be a relatively simple affair.
The argument that led to the domestic violence incident supposedly centered around a condom receipt she found. Allegations of cheating have already been making their way around the Internet today, but without any hard evidence, that should strictly be treated as a rumor.
We’ll keep you updated as the case winds its way through the court system.
