Divergent Book 3: Allegiant Cover Revealed
The cover for Allegiant has arrived! We were promised our first look at the cover for the third and final book in Veronica Roth's Divergent trilogy this week, and The Today Show delivered on that this morning in a segment featuring Roth as she was interviewed by Ryan Seacrest. You can watch the full interview above, which features Roth talking about writing the first book when she was in college, and delivering on a promise to jump into a bathtub full of marshmallows when she got her first book deal.
All of this leads to Ryan revealing the cover of Allegiant, the third book in the series. Earlier this week, the tagline "One Choice Will Define You" was revealed as a teaser to today's cover debut. You can see it there on the top…
We get a fiery looking background and the expected circle at the center, which follows the trend set by the first two books, Divergent and Insurgent. For Allegiant, that circle is a wave.
Book spoilers from the first two novels ahead! Read no further if you're not caught up!
The story is set in dystopian Chicago where society is divided by five factions. The story follows Tris Prior, a teen who comes of age and must choose her faction, only there's a catch. She learns that she's "Divergent," which means she's not technically fit for any one faction, and this is something she needs to keep a secret. While the first book focuses on Tris' training at her faction, the story builds up to what may be the start of a revolution, as one faction attempts to gain power over the others. Insurgent picks up with Tris and her closest allies on the run and attempting to figure out what's going on and who they can trust. The book left off with the reveal that the world outside the walls of Chicago was crumbling when the faction program was set up. I'm wondering if the wave of water is meant to symbolize the floodgates about to be opened if and when Tris decides to leave Chicago and face whatever's waiting on the outside.
We'll find out one way or the other when Allegiant arrives October 22. It's currently available for pre-order at Amazon. The feature adaptation of Divergent is set to arrive in theaters in March.
