Divergent Book 3: Allegiant Tagline Focuses On A Choice
Fans of Veronica Roth's Divergent series are likely eager to read the third and final book in the trilogy. While we have months to wait for the novel to hit shelves, we now know that the title is Allegiant, and we'll get our first look at its cover when it debuts later this week. In the meantime, the tagline for the novel has been released, and it focuses on choices - or one choice. Allegiant - "One Choice Will Define You."
It's at this point that you might want to stop reading if you haven't read the first two books (Divergent and Insurgent), because this article contains some vague plot spoilers!
Divergent is set in the future in the city of Chicago where society is broken up into five factions. The story follows Tris Prior, a teen who must choose to either stay in her parents' faction ("Abnegation," the selfless faction) or choose another. The book focuses mainly on her training in her new faction, but soon leads to the start of a revolution as one faction manipulates another in an effort to annihilate another faction. Insurgent picks up right where the first book left off, and follows Tris and her friends as they attempt to form allies and figure out why this revolution has started and how they can keep the city from falling under the wrong kind of control. The story leaves off with an interesting revelation involving the very nature of the city's society and what might be going on on the other side of the walls.
The title "Allegiant" and the new tagline - which popped up on the Divergent Facebook page - suggest that loyalty and one's choices will play a big role in the final story. Veronica Roth is set to reveal the cover of the book on The Today Show on Thursday. In the meantime, here's the vague description listed at Amazon.
Allegiant hits shelves October 22, and the feature adaptation of Divergent arrives in theaters March 21.
