Do You Want To See Paul McCartney And NIrvana Jam Together?
Tonight’s much anticipated 12-12-12 concert is scheduled to include a ton of big name acts including Eric Clapton, Billy Joel, the Rolling Stones, Kanye and Bruce Springsteen, but thanks to one little rumor, all of those legends have quickly gotten overshadowed. The word on the street is Paul McCartney will join the surviving members of Nirvana to either play a new song or one of the classic tracks from the defunct band’s catalog.
The crazy mash-up was first reported by The Sun. If the outlet is to be believed, the collaboration began taking shape during a recent jam session organized by McCartney and Grohl. The drummer apparently brought along Pat Smear and Krist Novoselic, and it took the former Beatle a few minutes to realize he was essentially taking Kurt Cobain’s place in an impromptu Nirvana reunion.
McCartney’s representatives have refused to confirm or deny his involvement in any such project this evening, and humorously, it’s not even clear whether most Nirvana fans want it to be true or not. An overwhelming majority of people respect both Paul and Nirvana’s individual geniuses, but it’s unclear whether they would actually sound good together. McCartney’s voice is far from a dead ringer for Cobain’s, and considering how infrequently Krist, Dave and Pat have gotten together since their buddy’s death, it would be a real shame to waste one of those opportunities on a collaberation that sucks.
What do you think about the rumor? Are you hoping it's true or do you want McCartney and Grohl and company to keep doing their own things? Let us know your thoughts by voting in the poll below…
