Most news outlets may still be talking about the shopping weekend, but today Nightline has given Dolly Parton a chance to take the main stage and hopefully, finally, give the country singer and icon a chance to quash the long-term rumors she is in a lesbian relationship and is less-than-devoted to her longtime husband.
Rumors have abounded for years that Parton is dating her childhood bestie, Judy Ogle, despite the fact that Parton has been happily married for 46 years to her notoriously event-shy husband, Carl Thomas Dean. According to TMZ, the singer says she has known her best friend for most of her life and can relate to Ogle on a level of tight friendship, but the relationship doesn’t go any further than that.
"We still just have a great friendship and relationship and I love her as much as I love anybody in the whole world, but we're not romantically involved."
More humorously, the 66-year-old songwriter recounted a tale of a time she spent commiserating with none other than Oprah, a woman who has also dealt with lesbian rumors over the years. The closeness Oprah shares with her best pal Gayle King has also spawned rumors of a sexual nature, but now Parton wants to clear the air for good. She is happily married to her husband, and she is not a lesbian. So, quit yapping about the iconic singer like those rumors are fact, if you please.
