Drake Is Disgusted Rolling Stone Put Philip Seymour Hoffman On The Cover Over Him

I like Drake a lot—like a 9/10 level like. He writes some great music. He was a total baller as a child actor on DeGrassi. He’s an outspoken hater of Chris Brown, and he went back and completed his high school education to be a good example to his fans. He really seems like a good dude, but now and again, he takes his own foot and shoves it firmly into his mouth. Like this morning, for example, when he went off on Rolling Stone for choosing Philip Seymour Hoffman over him to grace this month’s cover.

That’s right. The same Philip Seymour Hoffman who unexpectedly died after two decades of churning out brilliant performance after brilliant performance. He apparently didn’t deserve his moment in the sun, and Drake is “disgusted” at Rolling Stone thinking differently.

Seriously. Here’s the actual quote he threw up on Twitter…

Evil? Rolling Stone is evil for honoring an Academy Award winner who died over a musician who should have another decade of magazine covers in him? Really, Drake?

You may notice I didn’t embed the actual Tweets. That’s because Drake thought better of them not long after sending them out into the world and decided to use the delete button for the majority of his rant that also touched on the magazine unfairly quoting him. Is that because he was inundated with a torrent of “WTF?” messages from fans who didn’t understand why he would be so petty about a magazine cover when one of the greatest actors of his generation just died? Is it because he realized it came across as a backhanded shot at Hoffman not being deserving enough? We’ll probably never know, but thankfully, he had a moment of clarity, whatever got him there.

There is a time and a place to take a stand. If Drake had been kicked off the cover in favor of a Kanye West interview, I think most of us would completely understand the rage, but sometimes you have to take a step back and look at the larger circumstances. Philip Seymour Hoffman dying is significantly more important than Drake's thoughts on Macklemore.

As of now, Drake says this is his list interview ever, but I wouldn't hold my breath on that...
