Elton John's Husband Trashes Madonna's Golden Globes Win

Most hopefuls at the Golden Globes are not too crushed if they do not get announced as a winner. Or, at least, they manage to be pretty good about hiding it. Occasionally however, the camera will manage to catch an angry face tick. Or, even better, someone will throw down a glove for a bona fide verbal catfight. Last night's awards actually featured a few word punches thrown, but from a rather unlikely source.
If you did manage to catch the Globes Sunday night, you may have caught a disgruntled look on Elton John’s face after Madonna won the award for “Best Original Song.” The two were up for an award in the same category: Madonna for “Masterpiece,” from her directorial debut, W.E. and John for “Hello, Hello” from Gnomeo and Juliet. John’s loss wouldn’t have been so bad, if he had not been so snug about his sure win earlier in the day when he told a reporter Madonna had “No fucking chance.”
Luckily, other than one odd look, John did not particularly pursue the matter of his loss and it could have all ended there. That is, if it wasn’t for John’s husband, David Furnish. According to Fox News, Furnish took to Facebook to protest John’s loss almost immediately, and his overly exclamative rants were particularly pointed at Madonna.
"Madonna. Best song???? Fuck off!!!"
Not the most tasteful thing a husband of a celebrity has ever said, but worse things have certainly popped out of people’s mouths at these awards shows, before. It was when Furnish continued with his statements he really went on the attack.
Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit. Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in its narcissism. And her criticism of Gaga shows how desperate she really is.”
I get wanting to support your spouse when he or she has just lost something you feel they should have won. However, there is a proper time and outlet to voice that opinion. Facebook is not that outlet. At the end of the day, Furnish only made his family look like sore losers. That’s a much worse place to be than Michael Fassbender’s manhood, right now.
