Jermaine Jackson Changes Name To Jermaine Jacksun For Artistic Reasons
Several months back, Jermaine Jackson filed a petition to change his name from Jermaine Jackson to Jermaine Jacksun. Not surprisingly, a lot of observers thought he’d eventually change his mind, but the big day came and went this week and he actually followed through. So, from this point forward, he will be known as Jermaine Jacksun.
The former member of the Jackson (with an o) Five hasn’t spoken publically about why he felt the moniker alteration was necessary, but he listed “artistic reasons” as the rationale in his paperwork. Why in God’s name someone with the most famous last name in music would want to swap out one letter, especially when he’s still touring with his brothers under said last name, is unclear, but really, it’s not like this is the strangest thing this family has ever done. In fact, just a few months ago, several members of the clan were lobbing kidnapping allegations against each other. So, considering there’s nothing criminal or dangerous about this name change, it’s probably best to just go with it.
According to TMZ, Jermaine is currently touring Europe with his brothers, but his trusted attorney was on hand for all of the legal proceedings. Here’s to hoping the smooth-voiced singer is able to use the alteration as inspiration to churn out a great record fans of the Jackson family will enjoy listening to.
