Jessica Simpson Names Son Ace Knute, Rate Her Choice
Jessica Simpson is a mother for the second time. The reality star/ actress/ musician gave birth to a healthy baby boy this afternoon, and while details are still very short on the exciting news, we do know both Simpson and her fiancé Eric Johnson are “thrilled” to add a second child to go with baby Maxwell who was born fourteen months ago.
Remember the first time Simpson got knocked up and it seemed like she was pregnant for at least eighteen months? Well, pretty much the opposite happened this time. Instead of a steady stream of headlines, naked magazine covers and interviews, the starlet did her best to slip under the radar, which is probably why the announcement of her second child’s birth was greeted with plenty of shock this afternoon.
The delivery itself occurred sometime today inside a Los Angeles area hospital and happened via C-section. The exact time hasn’t been released publically, but far more importantly, the little guy’s name has. He will be called Ace Knute Johnson, with the middle name deriving from his former NFL star father’s grandpa Knute.
Here’s the official statement Simpson’s rep gave US Magazine…
Ace might not be as outside of the box as some celebrity choices, but it’s certainly not what you would call conventional. In fact, it feels like more of a nickname than a legitimate, on the birth certificate choice, but I suppose that’s also part of what makes the pick so much damn fun.
Part of me is a huge fan of this name. Part of me thinks this little kid will grow up to be a huge badass with his own interesting perspective on life. Sometimes a little quirk is exactly what a young boy needs to distance himself from the herd, carve out his own identity and come into his own. On the other hand, however, part of me feels like this handle is way too informal. Part of me wonders why Jessica and Eric didn’t simply name their kid something that started with an “A” with the intention of calling him Ace and letting him decide whether or not to go with that moniker once he gets out into the business world.
