Jimmy Fallon And The Roots Cover Call Me Maybe Using Only Elementary School Instruments

Jimmy Fallon and his house band The Roots might frequently tap into popular trends, but the guys always seem to put their own spin on them. Their latest cover is yet another example. Carly Rae Jepsen recently stopped by the studio, and Fallon and company decided bring her in on a rendition of her hit song using only elementary school instruments to supply the backing music. Everyone involved is surprisingly into it, and the result is a whole lot of fun. Take a look at the footage below…

This, in a three and a half minute clip, is why Jimmy Fallon is worth watching in the evenings. He might not have quite the interview skills of his late night rivals, but he always has a hell of a good time. That energy is infectious, and the randomness of it all compels many to watch. Whether remixing the news or playing beer pong, he treats his guest and his band like they’re goofy siblings to clown on. The result is a ton of viral clips like this one.

As for the real version of “Call Me Maybe”, it remains the number two song in the country and is showing no signs of letting up. It should go on to be one of the more memorable and recognizable tracks of the summer, and hopefully for Carly Rae Jepsen, the start of a long career.
