Jimmy Kimmel Marries Writer Molly McNearney

News broke on Monday that late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel tied the knot with Molly McNearney over the weekend at a ceremony that was held in Ojai, California. The bride wore a strapless wedding dress with a diamond-encrusted belt and the groom wore regular black attire.

It’s often difficult to imagine comedians getting serious about anything. Luckily, we have Jim Carrey in The Truman Show as a prime example of proving this sort of thing is possible, and Kimmel and McNearney’s wedding seems to have been as serious but fun as any big celebrity endeavor could be. According to US Magazine (who also nabbed a shot at the bride’s dress), early in the night the couple danced to Ray LaMontagne's "Let It Be Me." A seven-course meal hosted by LA’s Animal Restaurant was a big part of the night, and after dinner and dancing, food trucks were around to cater to some of the more ravenous guests. The event ended around midnight, which means there was a lot of food served in a short amount of time.

Guests who were lucky enough to attend the wedding would have gotten to eat a lot, but also would have seen a slew of celebrities, including Kimmel and McNearney’s pals Justin Theroux and Jennifer Aniston. Other famous attendees included Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi, Howard Stern, Matt Damon, John Krasinski and Emily Blunt, and even Johnny Knoxville all attended the big event.

McNearney and Kimmel began dating in 2009, but have known each other for much longer, since McNearney currently acts as a co-head writer on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and was formerly a regular writer on the series. After dating for several years, Kimmel eventually proposed to McNearney while on vacation in South Africa in 2012. It takes a while to plan an entire wedding, but it went off seemingly without a hitch on Saturday night.

This is the first wedding for McNearney, but the second for Kimmel, who was married to Gina Kimmel until 2002. The couple has two children from that marriage. Kimmel was then famously attached to Sarah Silverman for several years, before splitting in the spring of 2012. About six months later, McNearney and Kimmel hooked up.

Getting married is always a huge commitment, but luckily Kimmel and McNearney seem to have dated for long enough that signing a piece of paper seems like the right call. With a little luck, hopefully they’ll make it at least almost as long as a couple Kimmel attempted to interview earlier this year.

Pop Blend would like to wish the happy couple the very best during their first few months of marriage. May they spend many nights in sweatpants and enjoy the tax breaks coming to them.
