Judge Orders WNBA Legend Chamique Holdsclaw To Wear Ankle Bracelet
Not long after a warrant was issued for her arrest, Chamique Holdsclaw turned herself into the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia yesterday. The WNBA legend was officially charged with two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of damaging property and one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. If convicted of the entire grouping of offenses, she could be looking at a lot of time in prison.
According to TMZ, Holdsclaw posted a bond of $100,000 today and was released from custody. The judge forbid her from having any contact with her ex-girlfriend Jennifer Lacy, and she’ll be forced to wear an ankle bracelet, at least until her next court date at the end of this month.
The scary incident that led to all the charges went down in Atlanta earlier this week. Holdsclaw allegedly followed her ex-girlfriend after she finished a workout at a local gym, took a baseball bat to her car windows and even fired a gun inside the vehicle. Thankfully, no one was hurt during the alleged assault, but obviously, the court system is taking what happened very seriously.
Holdsclaw and Lacy dated for approximately four years before the latter called off the relationship last year. It’s unclear why tensions resurfaced earlier this week, but one would imagine Chamique’s version of what happened will get out there sooner or later. Here's to hoping these two can figure out to live peacefully apart from this point forward.
