Kellie Pickler Shaves Head To Support Friend With Cancer
Former American Idol contestant Kellie Pickler got her Chris Daughtry on this week, buzzing off her luxurious locks. Other female pop stars have done as much in the past as a fashion choice or a sign of madness, but for Pickler, the display had a far more important meaning. Her best friend, Summer Miller, was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and is set to begin chemotherapy; so, as a statement of solidarity, the beauty took a seat next to her BFF and got rid of every last strand.
The buzzing was taped and aired on Good Morning America earlier today. If Pickler has it her way, it’ll remind younger women they too are at risk for breast cancer. You can take a look at some of the footage below…
Miller will continue sharing her story as part of the Athena Water campaign. She recently underwent a double mastectomy to get rid of a tumor, and ideally, the chemotherapy should prevent it from coming back in the future. Hopefully, this is the last time either woman will have to shave her head.
Pop Blend’s thoughts go out to both Pickler and Miller as they battle through one illness together.
