Lady Gaga Announces ARTPOP Release Date, New App
Lady Gaga released the name of her third studio album all the way back in August, letting fans know the endeavor would be called ARTPOP. Since then, she’s had some touring and health troubles, only recently re-emerging into the cultural landscape to make her first public appearance in months during New York City’s Pride rally. Now the singer is back and she’s gearing up for the release of her third album, which will hit shelves on November 11.
So far, we don’t know a ton of details about the new release, but we do know that that the “Born this Way” singer already has some marketing efforts stewing to complement the new album. According to a lengthy Facebook post the singer released this morning, Gaga released some details relating to an app that will hit the market on the same day as the album release. The app’s purpose seems extremely vague at this point, but Gaga’s post explains that the app will be a multimedia affair allowing users to explore the world of ARTPOP via fashion, art, music and more. The app was built by Gaga’s creative team, TechHaus.
Even the colorful description for the app doesn’t tell us much, but for major fans of the 27-year-old’s work, it at least seems like it will be a good place to commune to celebrate the album.
ARTPOP is also described in the post as “a 'rage' of electronic passion and fury, defining each artistic process from beginning to end, ARTPOP could mean anything. But for her, this is a celebration of obsession." That could mean almost anything, but from what I garner from that statement, it at least means we’ll get some fast-paced electronic music. We’ll find out soon enough. The press release also notes Gaga’s first single off of ARTPOP will hit the market next month, on August 19.
It’s actually pretty impressive that Lady Gaga has gotten back on her feet so quickly. The singer was forced to cancel tour dates this winter after learning she had a debilitating hip injury. She later had surgery and spent a few months moving about in a 24-karat Gold plated wheelchair. Five months later, it seems she’s ready and rearing to go and I can’t wait to see what her newest endeavor looks like. In the meantime, you can catch a glimpse of Gaga’s recent performance, below.
