Martin Lawrence Is Getting Divorced
For fifteen years, comedian Martin Lawrence and his girlfriend Shamicka Gibbs lived in blissful cohabitation. Two years ago, they decided to finally walk down the aisle. Unfortunately, something about the new definition of their relationship didn’t work because now the two are headed for divorce court.
With two children and years of memories, the decision to split surely didn’t come easily, but by the looks of it, the break-up is going to be final. According to E! News, they partnered together one last time to release a joint statement telling fans they were separating but will continue to raise their daughters as a team.
With other celebrity couples, it would be likely we’d eventually get both parties speaking on record to trash the other and spill all the dirty secrets, but for the majority of their relationship, Martin and Shamicka largely stayed out of the tabloids. With kids to consider, one would hope they’d continue to abide by that code. There’s really no reason to rub salt into the wounds at this point.
Pop Blend wishes both parties nothing but the best as they try to move on after almost two decades together. It won’t be easy, but with any luck, they’ll continue to find common ground in the form of their children.
