Mary Richardson Kennedy Gone At 52
Mary Richardson wasn’t born into the Kennedy family, but by the time she married Robert F Kennedy Jr., she’d been a presence at the compound for years. She’d gone to boarding school with RFK Jr.’s sister Kerry Kennedy. In 1990, she served as the blushing bride’s maid of honor. Four years later, she married Robert on a boat sailing on the Hudson River. Four beautiful children followed over the next seven years, and for awhile, it seemed like they’d grow old together in the Mount Kisco property she’d used her architecture skills to redesign. Unfortunately, life didn’t work out that way.
By the late 00s, Mary and Robert began having serious domestic problems. He filed for divorce in 2010 and reportedly began dating Curb Your Enthusiasm’s Cheryl Hines. Unable to cope, she battled some personal problems, but by most accounts, had been getting her life together. Sadly, that life ended all too soon. According to Reuters, Mary’s body was discovered this morning. She was only fifty-two.
It’s tempting to define Mary Richardson Kennedy’s life by the man she married and the family she grew so close to, but more than that, she’ll be remembered for the genuine affection most around her seemed to feel. Even following the couple’s separation, Mary’s mother-in-law Ethel praised her every chance she got, and even wrote letters to a judge defending her daughter-in-law after she was arrested for driving under the influence of a new medication her doctor had prescribed.
Mary Richardson Kennedy was a doting mother and a caring person. She will be missed by many and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
