Monopoly: Are You Sad To See The Iron Go?
Earlier today, the fine people in charge of Monopoly announced the final results of the extended vote to find a new playing piece. Not surprisingly, the cat crushed the competition, besting a slew of other non-cat choices including a robot. More importantly, the fie people in charge of Monopoly also announced the final results of the extended vote to discard one of the classic playing pieces, and sadly, the iron has removed the creases from its last shirt.
For weeks, the wheelbarrow looked like it might find itself on the bottom of the heap, but its biggest supporters organized a feverish rally that eventually pushed the item up one spot, leaving the poor iron to be cast off. Initially, I assumed I wouldn’t care in the slightest about the Monopoly vote, provided the shoe didn’t get the heave-ho, but now that it’s come and gone, I’m actually really said to see the iron go. There’s something about it that just feels perfect for a game people have been enjoying for almost a century.
What do you think? Are you happy to see the iron go, or are you disappointed at all by the results of the vote? Let us know your thoughts by voting in the poll I have embedded below…
