Morrissey Calls Duck Dynasty Stars Serial Animal Killers

Morrissey is nothing if not a principled man. From turning down millions of dollars for a Smiths reunion to railing against even the more popular figures of the British Monarchy, he has always fought for the things he believes in, and foremost among those passions is vegetarianism. An outspoken animal rights advocate, he’s spent the past few months trying to make his upcoming Los Angeles concert the first meat-free show in the history of Staples Center, and now, he’s pulled out of a gig on Jimmy Kimmel Live because he doesn’t want to share the stage with the guys from Duck Dynasty.

They might seem like harmless good ‘ol boys on TV, but the way Morrissey sees it, the duck whistle they created is responsible for an incredible number of animal murders every year. So, recently, he asked Jimmy Kimmel to bump the Duck Dynasty guys and replace them with different guests. Not surprisingly, he refused and that led Morrissey to pull the plug. You can take a look at a portion of the singer’s statement below, courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter

"As far as my reputation is concerned, I can't take the risk of being on a show alongside people who, in effect, amount to animal serial killers. If Jimmy cannot dump Duck Dynasty then we must step away."

Kimmel reportedly offered to let Morrissey tape his performance at a separate time in which the reality stars weren’t present. That sounds like a great compromise, but even sharing the same bill apparently wasn’t acceptable to Morrissey, which is definitely principled but also probably a pretty good clue as to why the singer isn’t exactly known for being easy to get along with.
