Natalie Portman Marries Black Swan Choreographer Benjamin Millepied
It's been over a year since Natalie Portman, her growing pregnant belly and her ballet dancer fiancé Benjamin Millepied were the talk of the awards season. Now the happy couple have made their union official. Word has it that Portman and Millepied exchanged vows at a traditional Jewish ceremony in Big Sur, California on Saturday.
According to Us Weekly, which broke the news, the pair debuted matching wedding bands six months ago, at the 2012 Oscars where Portman presented the Best Actor statue, but it's unclear why they wore the rings before the actual ceremony. The couple met on the set of Black Swan, the movie for which Portman would eventually win the Best Actress Oscar, but their relationship only went public when Portman simultaneously announced her pregnancy and her engagement to Millepied, just as Black Swan was becoming a surprise art house success.
It was a lot to handle, even for an actress as poised and experienced as Portman, and the combination of new love and pregnancy hormones may have made her acceptance speeches a little wilder than usual. Remember when she accepted the Golden Globe for Black Swan and gave a shout out to her pregnant belly and Millepied: "He totally wants to sleep with me!" Her laugh after that joke was unforgettable-- and apparently the laugh of a woman newly in love.
Congratulations to the happy couple and their year-old son Aleph! And if you want to relive the glory days of the Golden Globes, you can take a look at that classic acceptance speech below.
