Nicki Minaj Forced To Bail On UK Concerts Because Of Voice Problems

Nicki Minaj ignored the warning of her doctors and performed a concert in New York on Tuesday, but after seeing how thoroughly the gig damaged her voice, she’s decided to take a few days off. Unfortunately for fans in England, those days off will coincide with the V Festival she was scheduled to play.

The singer was reportedly so sure she could tough it out on Friday that she sent her band and equipment ahead to the venue, but as she was getting on the plane to fly herself, her voice reportedly got worse. She immediately went to see her doctor, and after an X-ray, it was clear she needed to take a step back.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the singer’s publicist released a statement apologizing for the cancelation. No doubt the singer’s biggest fans will be disappointed not to see her either Saturday or Sunday, but on the bright side, they will now get to see LMFAO.

Concert organizers told The Daily Mail they reached out to the party rockers immediately after Minaj said no. Obviously, someone splashy needed to be hired to replace a name as big as hers.

Vocal problems are always best dealt with immediately. Straining the chords over and over again without rest is a recipe for long-term damage, and while pissing fans off isn't fun, never being able to sing to one’s full potential again is far worse. Here’s to hoping Minaj’s pipes are in tip-top shape in no time.
