One Track Sunday: The Temper Trap Needs Your Love
The Temper Trap’s most recognizable song is “Sweet Disposition,” off their debut album Conditions, although the track is probably more recognizable in the States due to its obvious appearance in the 2010 movie 500 Days of Summer. The songs is so catchy my sister bought the soundtrack to the flick and now still frequently employs it as a staple in her vehicle. Luckily, she’ll be able to give the band a second go pretty soon. A sophomore album is due sometime this year, and just a couple of weeks ago, The Temper Trap released the band’s first single (and second track) off of their upcoming venture.
Called “Need Your Love,” the single is a resonating and anthemic (although not necessarily lyrically inspiring) track designed to make its listeners feel uplifted even as it broaches a painful breakup. Here, lead singer Dougy Mandagi chooses to present his voice in a more masculine and straightforward way, rather than straining it to hit those sweet high notes that made “Sweet Disposition,” so incredible. It actually works for the song and should work for a video if the boys ever get around to making one. Until then, you can hear the track via SoundCloud.
