One Track Sunday: Two Door Cinema Club Sleeps Alone
The Irish band hailing from two of the coolest-named locales on the planet—Bangor and Donaghadee—has been prepping to put out its sophomore album for the last several months. Two Door Cinema Club’s Beacon is set to hit the market on September 3 in the U.K. and September 4 in the U.S. and Canada, but in the interim the band has released a video for Beacon’s lead single, “Sleep Alone,” was initially released as a free download back in July.
Two Door Cinema Club frontman Alex Trimble has been keeping busy in the time since, rehearsing a cover of Underworld’s “Caliban’s Dream” that was subsequently performed live at the opening ceremony for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. The live cover was pretty dreamy, but it can’t match the midnight ride in a bed down the side of a skyscraper or flying the same bed down railroad tracks present in the “Sleep Alone” video.
Trimble may be singing about fighting off ghosts and entertaining deep desires in the band’s new song, but the video seems to follow a more playful adventure, ending in a rambunctious pillow fight. We can’t wait to see what else Two Door Cinema Club has up its sleeve when Beacon drops next month.
