PSY's Gangnam Style Knocks Justin Bieber Out Of Most Viewed YouTube Video Of All Time Spot
Music videos tend to dominate the Most Viewed Videos of All Time on YouTube, with VeVo videos holding five of the top six spots (and nine of the top 12). PSY's "Gangnam Style" has only been online for a handful of months, but the catchy rap song has already managed to unseat Justin Bieber's "Baby" for the top spot on YouTube, making it the streaming video site's most viewed video of all time.
Arriving on YouTube on July 15, 2012, PSY's music video for "Gangnam Style" went mega-viral and has racked up a view count of 805,055,375 total views. It's fast climb to the top put it among the ranks of Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull's "On The Floor," Eminem and Rihanna's "Love the Way You Lie," and Justin Bieber's "Baby ft. Ludacris," the latter of which held the #1 All Time spot on YouTube, with a current view count of 803,732,561. But PSY surpassed that recently by (currently) more than a million views.
Sooner or later, obsession with all things "Gangnam Style" will likely fade and settle into yet another pop culture reference, but the song is still hot right now and currently holds iTunes #1 spot for Top Singles. And just last Sunday, PSY took the stage with MC Hammer to perform a "Gangnam Style"/"2 Legit 2 Quit" mashup at the American Music Awards.
Now the question is, how long will PSY's video hold the All Time view count record on YouTube? Will Justin Bieber fans rally to help "Baby" reclaim the spot? Will another international hit sweep the globe and replace "Gangnam Style"? We'll see. In the meantime, here's the most viewed YouTube video of all time.
