Rumor: Mental Problems Are Behind Amanda Bynes' Erratic Driving

As Amanda Bynes’ driving record has become more littered with charges over the past few months, many have begun regarding the actress as reckless and incompetent. It turns out, however, there may be far bigger issues in play. Rumors are currently swirling that the former Nickelodeon star is in the midst of some kind of mental breakdown, and without help, it will probably get worse.

According to TMZ, Amanda’s neighbors have observed her carrying on long conversations with inanimate objects and acting bizarrely. Many are convinced there are serious mental problems at the heart of her behavior, and those fears reportedly extend to many members of her gym. Earlier this week, Bynes was at Equinox in West Hollywood when she supposedly began laughing hysterically to herself and babbling to no one in particular while she was on the elliptical.

At this point, there’s no way to know whether these allegations are actually true. None of her neighbors have spoken on the record, and Bynes has been oddly quiet for the most part since the alleged traffic violations began piling up. That being said, a mental illness would go a long way to explaining why the actress has continued to drive around town after her license was suspended. With photographers and cameramen following her every move, it’s almost a guarantee she’ll be caught every time.

Bynes is due back in court this coming week. We’ll keep you updated.
