New Star Wars Airplane Debuts, See The Pictures
Japan’s All Nippon Airways (ANA) unveiled an exciting new airplane this weekend that is taking the internet by storm. There have been many specially designed planes in the past, but to move towards the future, nothing seems quite as fitting as a Star Wars-themed aircraft. First announced back in April, the airline finally unveiled its R2-D2 Jet, along with a couple life-like R2-D2 and C-3PO droids to help ring in the fun. Check it out:
This marks the first time ever that a commercial aircraft will feature a Star Wars character. The new 787-9 Dreamliner met the eyes of the public with great awe at the stunning paint job and details.
The rollout event was broadcasted live on the ANA website out of Seattle, Washington. And the airline announced that the plane is scheduled to begin flying passengers next month. Apparently the Star Wars-theme doesn’t stop with the paint job either. Star Wars images can be found on headrests, paper napkins and cups on the plane, and all six films are going to be included as its in-flight entertainment options.
While the plane is exciting for any Star Wars fan, what was equally exciting was the two working droids that showed up at the affair. They were far from just props. The R2-D2 droid actually made some of the famed beeps from the movies, and the person who was in the C-3PO suit perfectly mimicked his mannerisms. Take a look at the video:
With the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens only a few months away, there will be plenty more unique Star Wars-themed reveals on the way. Not sure anyone can go as big as a plane though.
