Taylor Swift Education Center Opens In Nashville
Taylor Swift may not be particularly lucky in the love, but the 23-year-old knows how to keep Nashville smitten with her. The “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” singer unveiled the Taylor Swift Education Center on Saturday at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Music City, showing the press and some local high school students the space before the ribbon was officially cut.
Swift has always had a special connection to youth. Her audience is mostly made of younger people, and since the singer has raked in well over $50 million a year for the last few years, she decided to use a chunk of that money to help out the youth in Nashville and the surrounding areas. In May of 2012, the singer announced she was donating $4 million to help with the music education program at the Country Music Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame has actually been involved with music education for quite a while, but Swift’s money will be used in the future to expand the program. The money has also been used to add the brand new Taylor Swift Education Center.
According to Fox News, Swift noted that the Education Center is not only being unveiled today; classes are also set to begin immediately.
The outlet is also reporting that the new space will increase educational opportunities “sevenfold” moving forward, which means that $4 million chunk of money Swift donated will go to good use. Regardless, Swift says she doesn’t want her contribution to Country Music Hall of Fame to end at the money. She also has plans to give talks at the Education Center on an irregular basis in the future. She has some ideas for a Q&A and more, and while nothing is official, yet, look to see the singer on the campus in the future. Hopefully, she’ll find a way to shoehorn in an appearance between her latest single and her latest love saga.
