Truck Couldn't Stop Quickly Enough In 50 Cent Accident
Early this morning, news broke that rapper 50 Cent was involved in a bad car accident. The thirty-six-year-old’s SUV was supposedly plowed into by a Mack truck on the Long Island Expressway, resulting in the musician and his driver being rushed to the hospital. 50 was treated for minor neck and back injuries before being told he could take off.
Stories published in the immediate aftermath claimed the truck driver’s load shifted, causing him to lose control of his vehicle. It turns out that’s not exactly the case. In fact, it was far simpler than that. According to The New York Daily News, traffic suddenly slowed near the Van Wyck exit on the LIE just after 11 PM last night. 50’s driver was apparently able to stop his Chevy Suburban in time, but the dude driving the Mack Truck wasn’t able to hit the brakes fast enough. He slid into the back of the hitmaker’s vehicle, leading to damage and the injuries reported above.
Authorities haven’t commented extensively on what happened, but based on initial reports, it doesn’t seem like anyone will be charged over the incident. Sometimes accidents just happen, especially ones involving large trucks that have difficulty stopping.
Pop Blend sends out its thoughts to all involved. May they each have speedy recoveries.
