Unexpected Timeout: Super Bowl Delayed After Power Outage
The Super Bowl is a glitzy, well-polished event. Hundreds, maybe even thousands of trained professionals work crazy hours leading up to and during the game to make sure it goes off without a hitch, but none of that effort can change the fact that it’s a live event and crazy shit can happen. Case and point: the power went out during today’s game.
The unexpected occurrence happened early in the third quarter. Even more bizarrely, it only happened to half of the stadium. The cause was reportedly an unexpected power surge, but not surprisingly, Twitter rumors are soaring that Beyonce’s frenzied ass shaking may have caused a horny onlooker to bump into a light switch or simply heated up the electricity to the point where it couldn’t function.
Officials are currently speculating the lights could be out as much as thirty minutes. Players from both teams are stretching and trying to stay loose, but right now, there’s no way to know how this could effect the momentum. One would imagine the break would help the 49ers considering they’re getting pummeled, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
A few of the lights on the dark side have begun popping back on. Hopefully, it’ll all be taken care of sooner rather than later. We’ll keep you updated. Until then, use this time to load up on chips and dip.
