Watch This Adorable Flash Mob Proposal
Over the last several years, flash mobs have been everywhere, popping up in movie plotlines, proposal videos, and other celebrations. A TV series, Mobbed, was even devoted to the concept of creating flash mobs for special events. In recent months, that trend seems to have died down somewhat, but a Utah man made it relevant again, thanks to a clever proposal set at the unlikeliest of places…Home Depot.
The nearly six minute-long video shows a slew of moderately coordinated people all dancing to the song “Somebody Loves You” by Betty Who, which Spencer later told the local Fox News station was a song that just sort of explained all of his feelings for his roommate.
As the song plays, Dustin watches his friends and family dance, and Spencer eventually pops back up in a suit, handing him a sign that’s totally reminiscent of the scene in Love Actually where Andrew Lincoln brings some some written support with him to tell Kiera Knightley how awesome she is. The proposal is a little more serious than whimsical, and you can catch Spencer’s actual “marry me?” speech right around the 4-minute mark.
When Spencer brought his roommate Dustin to Home Depot, the clueless future fiance was led to believe the two were picking out some lighting for a graduation party. Once they entered the building, however, Dustin said he began recognizing family and friends that now live in places all around the world. He thought that Spencer had put together some sort of weird flash mob for his graduation, and it wasn’t until the dance was nearly over that he began to get an inkling of what was going on.
Flash mobs might feel a little passé at this point, but this one is poignant and sweet, despite all of the stacks of lumber lying around. If this flash mob video has gotten you excited about watching other groups of people dance in unison, you can check out this awesome Big Bang Theory surprise and the world’s largest simultaneous flash mob.
