Watch Spice Girls Superfan Emma Stone Start Crying Over Mel B
We love Emma Stone. Not only is she a wonderfully funny actress who shined in comedies like Superbad, Zombieland and Easy A, she is also the mother of so much GIF gold. (As the writer of the GIF movie reviews, I thank you, Emma!) There's something about Stone's effortless charm that makes her seem like the cool girl next door, like one of us. And in a recent interview she proved how just like us she is by going full-on fan girl over former Spice Girl Mel B.
In the video above, Stone is meant to be doing an interview about her upcoming movie The Amazing Spider-Man 2. But when the Australian show Jules Merrick & Sophie with Mel B brought up Melanie "Scary Spice" Brown, Stone instantly teared up and geeked out! (Hey, we've all been there.)
"Oh my god! Is Mel B talking to me? Oh my god, I'm so excited I'm legitimately crying," Stone exclaimed as co-hosts Jules and Sophie presented her with an i-Pad playing a pre-recorded message. First Brown thanks Stone for being a fan, then playfully chastises her for preferring Baby Spice to her Scary Spice persona. As "punishment," she insists Stone get her Spice Girl on for the camera. Dutifully, she breaks into their debut single "Wannabe." Remember that one? Of course you do. Sing along:
There's something deeply satisfying about seeing stars fall to pieces when confronted with their pop culture crushes. It shows that past all the fame and fortune, they are fans just like us. Remember when Jennifer Lawrence went mad over Homeland's Damian Lewis, then was crushed when two over-eager reporters spoiled season three?
