Wall mounts ensure the floor is clear and provide a sleeker, more minimalist design. However, they also rarely provide shelving for accompanying systems such as Blu-ray players and gaming systems.

Floor stands blend the two types by creating a sleek structure that takes up very little space, with the benefit of not requiring a drill and a level.

Know Your TV

Make sure before you purchase a stand that you are familiar with your own TV. Some TVs may not be compatible with all stands, so before finalizing a purchase, verify compatibility. If your screen does come with pre-fabricated mounting holes, ensure you measure the horizontal and vertical distance between the holes to ensure VESA compatibility with an individual stand, as they are designed differently. If your TV does not have pre-fabricated holes for mounting, you will either have to get creative or simply use a floor unit. Weight limits and screen size are other important factors to consider as many stands are not optimized for larger or smaller sizes and may not be a stable solution for your TV.
