Meet my favorite flip flop alternative. I’ve worn Birkenstock Gizehs for a long time, but it wasn’t until Birkenstock came out with these EVA sandals that I found my ultimate summer and beach time match. These attractive sandals are completely waterproof. Like other Birkenstocks, they’re adjustable thanks to a t-strap, but unlike traditional Birks, they don’t have any cork that can get damaged by exposure to water.
These sandals are ultra lightweight and come in 26 colors and 17 sizes. Their EVA footbed has classic Birkenstock arch support (though it’s not as firm since there’s no cork involved). I’ve worn my pair for two summers and on multiple vacations, and they’re still comfortable and looking good.
Of course, these sandals do come with the Birkenstock price tag and are more expensive than some options on our list. Also, because of their synthetic sole, they might squeak when they get wet or when you’re walking across certain surfaces.
