Mattress Needed

Choosing an adjustable bed is the first step of a few to a good night’s sleep. The next step is having the right mattress. Some adjustable bed manufacturers also make mattresses, but you might want to source your mattress elsewhere to ensure you get exactly what you need.

Though each adjustable bed will have different mattress requirements, for the most part, there are a few mattress types that are a safe bet. Latex and memory foam mattresses are best suited for adjustable bed frames because they are flexible, moldable, and move without much—if any—resistance. Innerspring and air beds also work just fine in some cases.

Before investing in an adjustable bed, we suggest doing your research on mattress requirements well ahead of time. The last thing you want is to buy a pricey adjustable bed without realizing you’ll need to buy a pricey mattress, too!

Assembly

Because of the motor and stainless steel construction of the bed, the weight of each of these products should not be understated. At the very least, even for mattresses as small as Twin XL, these bed frames weigh well over 50 lbs.

Though wonderful, adjustable beds do require some heavy lifting and assembly, and it’s best to be prepared for that in advance.

Retaining Bar

A retaining bar at the base of the bed is an absolute must. This bar is essential to the success of the bed. Without it, every time you try to elevate the bed, the mattress is at risk of moving or even sliding off the bed.
