While Season 4 of The Boys has been announced, we don’t know the exact date of when the next season will drop, but we do know that The Boys Season 4 will release on June 13, 2024. This was confirmed by a teaser on the official The Boys Twitter page, which features Homelander and Victoria Newman in a new poster, featuring the date:

This is a great addition to our 2024 TV schedule, and a great thing to look forward to as the new year comes.

The Main Cast Will Return

For fans of The Boys, there are plenty of cast members that will return for Season 4:

Karl Urban as Billy Butcher

Karl Urban will be back as Billy Butcher, the leader of the Boys in The Boys.  Eric Kripke actually spoke about Butcher’s time in Season 4 in an interview with Variety in 2022, saying his life is like a “ticking time clock” right now after his Temp V side-effects, so you better be prepared for Season 4 to feature him dealing with that.

Urban has appeared in such films like the Star Trek franchise, Dredd, Thor: Ragnarok, and more, and even appeared in the TV series, Almost Human.

Jack Quaid as Hughie Campbell

Jack Quaid will be back as Hughie Campbell. Quaid appeared in 2023’s gigantic Oppenheimer cast, and is also known for his role in the first The Hunger Games film.

Antony Starr as John Gillman / Homelander

Homelander, and Antony Starr, will be back for The Boys Season 4. That interview with Variety regarding Butcher’s life also said that Ryan, Homelander’s son, will play an important role in Season 4 of the show, where the story will be like “Kramer vs. Kramer” with Butcher, so he’s going to be a huge part of the next season.

The actor has appeared in Banshee, Outrageous Fortune, and several other Australian films.

Erin Moriarty as Annie January / Starlight

Erin Moriarity is returning as Starlight, now an official part of the Boys in The Boys. In fact, she’s so official that Moriarity spoke with Newsweek in July 2022 that Starlight will be finding new ways to seek justice without “wearing a mask.”

Moriarty has appeared in shows such as Jessica Jones, Red Widow, True Detective and more.

Jessie T. Usher as Reggie Franklin / A-Train

Jessie T. Usher is coming back as A-Train, the speedster of the Seven in The Boys. The actor has appeared in films like Smile, Tenage, When the Game Stands Tall, and Independence Day: Resurgence.

Laz Alonso as Marvin T. "Mother's" Milk / M.M.

Mothers Milk is back at it in Season 4 of The Boys, where Laz Alonso plays him. The actor has appeared in Avatar, Fast & Furious, Detroit, and many other films.

Chace Crawford as Kevin Moskowitz / the Deep

Chace Crawford will come back as the Deep in The Boys. Many fans know Crawford from his time on the Gossip Girl cast, but the actor has also appeared in films such as What To Expect When You’re Expecting, The Covenant and The Haunting of Molly Hartley among others.

Tomer Capone as Serge / Frenchie

Tomer Capone is expected to come back as Frenchie in The Boys. The Israeli actor has appeared in films like One Week and a Day, When Heroes Fly and more.

Karen Fukuhara as Kimiko Miyashiro / the Female

Karen Fukuhara is expected to return as Kimiko Miyashiro, otherwise known as the Female in The Boys. She’s appeared in Suicide Squad, and voiced Glimmer in She-Ra and the Princesses of Power on Netflix.

Nathan Mitchell As Black Noir

Nathan Mitchell will be back as Black Noir, but according to Entertainment Weekly in 2022, he will be playing an entirely new version of the character after the previous one was killed off. Eric Kripke confirmed the new Black Noir will be “a really interesting and hilarious character.”

Mitchell has appeared in other shows such as Motive and iZombie prior to The Boys, along with several guest appearances in many productions.

Colby Minifie as Ashley Barrett

Ashley Barrett will be back for Season 4 of The Boys, played by Colby Minifie. She’s appeared in films like Submission, Radium Girls, and I’m Thinking of Ending Things.

Claudia Doumit as Victoria Neuman / Nadia Khayat

Also confirmed to return in Season 4 is Victoria Neuman, played by Claudia Doumit. In fact, the character is going to have a much bigger role in Season 4.

For those who don’t remember, Victoria Neuman is a congresswoman who is running for president, and is willing to do anything in order to sway the public in her favor. She fights against Vought, but also works secretly with them behind the scenes to take out bad supes. With her power rising, she’s taken on a new form of taking out supers – a virus that was engineered in Gen V that can turn airborne and kill supes.

In an interview with Men’s Health in November 2023, both Michele Fazekas and Eric Kripke revealed that Neuman, who had a minor role in Gen V but certainly made an impact, is going to be a “big concern” for Season 4 of The Boys, especially after obtaining that deadly virus from Gen V:

Victoria Neuman, and the presidential election, is a big concern of Season 4. The virus is a big concern of Season 4.

They even featured a video on The Boys Twitter page that felt a lot like a campaign video for the election:

Newman, who had been a major character in Season 3 of The Boys as well, is going to be an interesting addition to this franchise – and cause a lot of chaos, I feel.

The actress – Claudia Doumit – has appeared in movies such as Anything, Dude and Where'd You Go, Bernadette.

Several Characters Have Been Confirmed

Jeffrey Dean Morgan in Season 4 of The Boys.

There are plenty of additional cast members that have been confirmed for Season 4 of The Boys, so let’s get into it:

Simon Pegg and Rosemarie Dewitt as Hughie’s Parents

The parents of Hughie are going to be coming into the fray for Season 4. According to Prime Video (via Collider), Simon Pegg is going to be returning as Hughie's father, but the new news is that Rosemarie Dewitt, a newcomer to The Boys, is taking on the role of Hughie's mother.

Susan Heyword and Valorie Curry as Sister Sage and Firecracker

If you were hoping that there were going to be some new Supes in Season 4 of The Boys, get ready. According to IGN in October 2022, it was confirmed that two new Supes were joining the show. Susan Heyward will play Sister Sage, and Valorie Curry will play Firecracker. We’re not sure who these characters are going to be in terms of the story, but we sure are excited.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan

This was something that seriously had me smiling for a whole entire day. According to Deadline in August 2022, it’s been confirmed that Jeffrey Dean Morgan would be hopping on The Boys cast for Season 4, in an undisclosed role, and that it would be a recurring guest star role. At the time of updating this in March 2024, we’re still unsure who he would play, but we’ve gotten sneak peaks.

This isn’t the first time that Morgan and The Boys showrunner, Eric Kripke, have worked together, having previously paired up for another popular show, Supernatural, on the CW. In that show, he also acted alongside Jensen Ackles, who portrayed Soldier Boy in The Boys.

Prior to the news being confirmed, Kripke spoke about how much Morgan was a fan of the show in an interview with E! News in June 2022, saying that they were trying to figure something out for him.

Morgan even shared his excitement over the role, tweeting out how excited he was.

Morgan certainly did have a busy schedule for a long time, such as his time as part of The Walking Dead cast, where he has played Negan for several years and reprised the role in The Walking Dead: Dead City in Summer 2023, as well as parts in films like The Unholy, Fall and more. However, it’s super exciting to see him come to another gory, fun-as-hell show, and I can’t wait to see who he plays.

In March 2023, Morgan even posted a selfie on Twitter at The Boys filming area, captioning the tweet, "At work."

Rob Benedict

Also announced in December 2022 was that another Supernatural alumni was coming to The Boys, and that's Rob Benedict. His role has been kept under wraps but wouldn't that be amazing to see both of them in the same scene together?

Judging from Jensen Ackles comments in an interview with Awards Radar, he said that Soldier Boy is "not dead" in Season 4, so does that mean we could get the ultimate Supernatural reunion? Only time will tell.

The Boys Season 4 Takes Place Shortly After Gen V’s Finale

As mentioned before, 2023 saw the release of Gen V, which, if you haven’t seen it, you’re missing out, because it’s so good. And now, according to an interview with Variety in November 2023, both Eric Kriple and Michele Fazekas confirmed that the events of the Gen V Season 1 finale take place mere days before the beginning of The Boys Season 4, and that it sets everything up:

In our minds, it’s only a couple of days after whatever the events are of “Gen V.” We try to keep the timeline super simple because all that folding-in-on-itself timeline stuff that I think other comic book universes find themselves having to do is just bewildering for me as a viewer. So it’s all very modular. It’s like there’s Season 3 of “The Boys,” and then after that “Gen V” takes place, and then after that “The Boys” Season 4 takes place. And then after that, “Gen V” Season 2 takes place. It’s all more like cars on a train than it is a plate of spaghetti.

This just makes me want to rewatch Gen V even more to get hyped for Season 4 of The Boys, because it sounds like their timelines are intertwined.

Butcher Also Knows About The Virus From Gen V

Something else that was also confirmed from the Gen V finale that will lead directly into The Boys Season 4 is that while Newman thought she could keep the virus a secret, Butcher already knows. Eric Kripke confirmed this an interview with Entertainment Weekly about the Gen V finale in November 2023, and that it would play an important role in Season 4 of The Boys:

Butcher's aware that this virus is out there. We knew that we wanted that to be part of the season 4 story. My writers' room pitched: 'Can we see [Butcher] at Godolkin and find out about the virus?' And then, 'Well, why don't we make that the moment at the end of Gen V so he's hot on its trail?'

I seriously think it’s time for you to watch Gen V if you haven’t because this is about to be a wild ride.

The Boys Season 4 Features Probably One Of “The Most Disgusting Things” Ever Seen On Television

A-Train in The Boys.

The Boys has always prided itself on being your not-so-typical superhero show, straight from the first couple of minutes of the first episode of Season 1. But how far can The Boys take it with its grossness?

Well, apparently pretty disgusting. A producer working on the show, Stephan Fleet, said in 2023 that he was pretty sure he just saw “the most disgusting thing” ever while working on The Boys, and the Twitter account for the show responded cheekily back, “Season 4, rated PG!!!”

This lines up with a lot of other reports about what Season 4 will entail when it comes to its gore factor. According to Jessie T. Usher, the audience is going to be quite surprised with the carnage. In an interview with Collider September 2022, Usher spoke about the upcoming season, saying that Season 4 is going to be unlike anything we have ever seen in terms of carnage for the show’s standards.

I can’t say if it’s more or less. What I can say is it’s surprising. It’s surprising. It’s surprising for everyone. That’s all I can say!

And then, in an interview with Esquire in July 2023, Jack Quaid confirmed that the new season is the most “intense” that they’ve ever shot:

It's my favorite season we've ever shot. It's a very intense season. You really get to mine the depth of every character—and it still has those 'What just happened?!' moments. Audiences are still going to be surprised and will be really into the direction that it takes. We take some chances that I think are really awesome. It's our best one yet.

I won’t lie, this sort of scares me because I really didn’t think we could get any bloodier than Season 3 because wowie was that season a lot when it came to carnage and how much fighting there was, but here’s hoping that Season 4 will find a way to somehow top that – whether it be less or more.

Season 4 Will Have Eight Episodes

Lining up with a pretty consistent trend these days, The Boys Season 4 will have a short season of eight episodes. According to the Variety article regarding the premiere date, the first three episodes release on June 13th, followed by one every week until the finale.

However, even if there are only eight episode, we know that The Boys has already been renewed for Season 5, according to Variety in May 2025 - so you know that after those eight episode there will be plenty more bloody mayhem to come.

What are you looking forward to the most in the upcoming season of The Boys? Will our burning questions be answered? As long as it's not more strange bestiality from The Deep and and some squid, I think we’ll all be on the same page.
