The Flash Season 3 Comic-Con Trailer Is Exciting And Twisted
The Flash Season 2 ended on a suprising cliffhanger when Barry Allen raced back into the past and saved his mother from Reverse-Flash. As later confirmed, this created the Flashpoint timeline, and fresh out of San Diego Comic-Con, we have our first look at what this alternate reality will look like thanks to the release of The Flash Season 3 trailer. Check it out!
After playing catch up, we see in the trailer that because of Barry's actions, both his mother and father are still alive, and they're one happy family. Of course, that's not the only change. Barry is no longer close with Iris and Joe West, and Cisco Ramon has somehow become the richest man in Central City. Fortunately, this world isn't without a Flash, as Wally West has taken that role, wearing his own unique costume and even having his own speedy nemesis. Throughout all this, it's clear Barry remembers his past life, but something will happen that forces him to jump back into Flash mode. No doubt Eobard Thawne's prodding has factored into this, as the arch-nemesis has been criticizing Barry for his decision while behind bars.
The Flash has done quite a bit with time travel over two seasons, but the Flashpoint storyline marks the show's biggest dive into that territory. After losing his father to Zoom, Barry decided he needed to save his mother in order to bring his family back together and get the happiness he's wanted for a long time. He was successful, but just like in the original Flashpoint story, he'll eventually need to revert things back to the way they were. For a couple episodes, however, we'll be following Barry as he interacts with different versions of familiar faces. It's also worth noting that the Flashpoint storyline may have an effect on the other CW DC shows eventually, just like how the comics Flashpoint resulted in the New 52 universe.
In the midst of all the Flashpoint shenanigans in this trailer, we also potentially get our first look at the season's main antagonist. Barry gets a brief flash (pun not intended) of the word 'alchemy' in his head, and a hooded figure is later seen. Hardcore Flash fans will recognize these clues pointing to Doctor Alchemy, one of the Scarlet Speedster's longtime enemies from the comics. Alchemy is able to transmute any element into another element. Assuming we do see Doctor Alchemy, it's unclear whether he'll only be in the Flashpoint timeline or remain once the normal timeline has been restored.
The Flash Season 3 premieres Tuesday, October 4 at 8 p.m. EST on The CW. Let us know what you think of our first look at the TV Flashpoint story in the comments below.
