The Walking Dead May Be Giving Us New Footage Tonight, Here’s What We Know
It's been a long summer for fans of AMC's apocalyptic drama The Walking Dead. After a season full of zombies, pregnancy, and a fake dead Glenn, we were given an absolutely excruciating finale. In the final moments of Negan's glorious introduction, he took his bat Lucille to one of our hero's face, savagely killing them as the rest of the survivors were forced to watch. While this normally would have been a super exciting cliffhanger, Walking Dead fans saw the iconic comic book moment coming to life a mile away, making the wait to find out which character was donezo long and frustrating.
Luckily, there are a few things happening to hold us over until The Walking Dead's October premiere. San Diego Comic-Con brought us the first trailer for Season 7, which was artfully crafted as to not reveal which character died at Negan's hand. And now we may get even more footage tonight.
Tonight, August 14th, AMC will be airing an hourlong preview special for The Walking Dead. Yes, a whole hour. The special will be hosted by Talking Dead host Chris Hardwick and feature superfan and actress Yvette Nicole Brown as well as Austin Amelio, who plays Negan's cronie Dwight. According to Channel Guide Mag, the special
Sign me up, I'm in. This preview special will air after AMC's day-long marathon of Season 6. After giving fans a refresher on all of the chaos that ensued during the last season, we'll be able to look forward to Season 7 and the war against Negan and The Saviors.
Of course, all anyone is really worried about regarding Season 7 is who will be massacred in the opening moments of the premiere episode. Fans have been speculating and debating which character was on the receiving end of Lucille since the finale aired back in April, and it hasn't slowed since.
Personally, I'm inclined to think that either Glenn or Abraham has met their maker- especially Glenn. As comic fans know, it was Glenn who died at the hands of Negan in the graphic novels. Additionally, his character hasn't really gone anywhere new in quite some time. Sure, he managed to kill his first person when the group attacked the Saviors, but he's still just the nice normal guy we all came to love in Season 1. And after he fake died last season, I'm ready for everyone's favorite pizza delivery boy to kick rocks.
As far as Abraham, I think his death would make for some interesting changes in both Sasha and Rosita's character. Sasha has just opened herself up for something romantic after losing Bob back in Season 5, so to have her lose yet another loved one might be the last straw in her sanity. Additionally, Sasha and Rosita's relationship to each other has yet to be explored. If Abraham were to die, they'd both be grieving and possibly have to come to terms with their disdain for each other in order to heal. Rosita hasn't had a ton to do on the show, so I'd like to see her role become a bit more meaty.
