The Awesome Gift Samantha Bee Sent Larry Wilmore When She Heard About His TV Show Getting Cancelled
It's been just a couple of days since we learned The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore would be ending. The last episode is this Thursday, but ever since the cast and creative team learned the news on Monday, they've dealt with the series ending in various ways. One of these is better than the others, as fellow former Daily Show correspondent Samantha Bee and her team at Full Frontal sent Larry Wilmore and his team a most excellent gift: a bunch of cases of wine.
The host soon shared an excellent look at the various vintages the comedienne and her team sent him. The gift also included a nice note from Samantha Bee herself. Or else her assistant, but that's neither here nor there.
However, if you thought the nice gesture would end there, you'd be very wrong. Larry Wilmore and the rest of the gang at The Nightly Show didn't wait until after the show to start consuming the popular alcoholic beverage. In fact, Larry Wilmore confirmed on air that he had started drinking before taping started. Here's what he had to say:
Hilariously, the Comedy Central host enjoyed some wine onstage during his opening monologue, at one point even noting that he was drinking "a basic cable wine." If you don't believe me, there is plenty of photographic evidence.
Hopefully, there will be enough wine left to get the late night host through the next couple of days. We learned on Monday that Larry Wilmore and Co. will keep chugging away through Thursday, when the last episode of The Nightly Show will air. Following the show's official ending, Chris Hardwick's @Midnight is expected to move into 11:30 timeslot, which I've already described as all sorts of weird. (I'm sticking with that opinion, too.) Catch the last couple of episodes of The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore at 11:30, only on Comedy Central. The full wine moment can be viewed on Comedy Central's site.
