New Luke Cage Video Shows An Awesome Fight And Tons Of Bullets
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a constantly expanding place. Spanning eight years and tons of movies and TV shows, there's always another superheroic adventure to look forward to. This has only increased since the success of Netflix's Marvel television universe, which has a full slate of interconnected TV shows being released every year. Our next entry into this world will be Luke Cage, which will expand and flesh out Mike Colter's character that was introduced in Jessica Jones. Footage and trailers for the upcoming series has been slowly released over the past few months, and now the streaming service has given us a new clip showing how utterly badass the unbreakable hero is. Check it out below.
Pretty awesome, right?
The above video shows how different Luke Cage will be from his predecessors. The most recent Netflix/Marvel release was Season 2 of Daredevil, which appears to have a completely unique visual style in comparison. Daredevil battles his foes using precision and lightning fast martial arts moves, which were enhanced by his heightened senses. And because Matt Murdock has no super powers to speak of, the fight scenes become thrilling life or death situations which usually result in the hero needing stitches and some serious pain killers.
Then there's Luke Cage. The dude is pretty much indestructible, with unbreakable skin and super strength at his disposal. And because he knows he can't be hurt, there is a completely different feeling to his fighting style. Luke Cage moves more like a typical horror villain: slowly walking toward his enemies and disposing of them quickly. In the above clip we saw Cage at the receiving end of a fair amount of bullets, with his shirt being the only thing affected in the process. A brawler like Jessica Jones, he uses his super strength to throw around his enemies like rag dolls.
Luke Cage is sure to be unique from Jessica Jones and Daredevil for a variety of reasons. Moving the action from Hell's Kitchen to Harlem, the show will focus on Luke Cage's neighborhood and the unique problems they have. The show will feature a cast of diverse characters, further helping the Marvel Cinematic Universe's inclusivity of dynamic characters of color.
