Comedy is a funny thing. Because there are so many genres, people can choose which type really makes them laugh. But around once a year we as a TV audience come together and watch celebrities absolutely eviscerate each other, much to the joy of us common folk. That's right, I'm talking about the Comedy Central Roast, an event that filmed this past Saturday on the west coach. This year's victim was none other than the eternally handsome Rob Lowe, and featured a somewhat eclectic cast of celebrities who ripped into the 52 year old actor. And while the special won't be airing on Comedy Central till Labor Day, a handful of the zingers have been leaked due to the large live audience. And they're brutal.
While much of the Comedy Central roasts revolves around the various panelists making fun of themselves, the focus always eventually ends up on the person of honor; in this case, Mr. Lowe. Much of the jokes at Lowe's expense are due to his somewhat salacious past, and frequent roaster Jeff Ross definitely used this to his advantage:
Truly Rob, roasting you wasn't easy. What can I say that hasn't been said in court by three nannies, a chef, and an underage girl from Atlanta?
Some serious shots have been fired. In a typical Comedy Central Roast fashion, the jokes were immediately below the belt for the Parks and Recreation star. Sure, he's a talented actor with an impressive decades spanning career, but he also has some very public skeletons in his closet. Notably, he had two different sex tapes come out in 1988- one of which was with a 16 year old girl. So yeah, the celebrities at his roast had a bevy of personal and embarrassing stories to utilize; footage from one of his sex tapes was even used during the opening ceremony, according to Deadline.
Of course, Rob Lowe seemed to be in on the joke and willing to make fun of himself throughout the night. Regarding his sex tape scandal, Lowe took the chance to make a jab at himself when addressing Roast Master David Spade.

Way to fall on the sword, Rob. Of course, there were other moments from Rob Lowe's colorful past that became the focus of ridicule. David Spade saw this, and combined a mixture of Lowe's acting credits and past with drugs as a one two punch.
Rob was in the movie The Outsiders back in the day. His character was Sodapop because he was 98% coke.
And that's how you do it. The line up for Rob Lowe's roast was pretty eclectic and shockingly short of comedians. Alongside classic roasters like Jeff Ross were political pundit Ann Coulter (who apparently was the victim o the most brutal burns during the Roast), singer Jewel, and Peyton Manning.
The Comedy Central Roast of Rob Lowe will air September 5th on Comedy Central.
