Did Rotten Tomatoes Leak American Horror Story's Season 6 Theme?
With summer quickly coming to an end, there's a few things to look forward to as the days turn colder. Kids are finally back in school, you can stop sweating quite so much, and fall television programming is finally back. One of the most exciting TV series that usually returns in time for Halloween season is FX's American Horror Story, which will be airing its sixth season this year. However, things are going a little differently this year for the Ryan Murphy anthology series, as we know next to nothing about what is in store for Season 6. By this point, we're normally given the season's theme, cast, list of characters, and usually a trailer or two. But with the premiere date quickly coming upon us, AHS fans still don't know what to expect. Except maybe till now.
Some hardcore American Horror Story fans recently went on the site Rotten Tomatoes, where they discovered that Season 6 apparently had a title. While we've received little to no information about the season, Rotten Tomatoes currently has the project titled American Horror Story: The Mist.
It's important to note that there has been no confirmation from the folks over at FX, and we should be taking this possibility with a grain of salt. Much of what makes Rotten Tomatoes such a great website is because various moderators and websites have the opportunity to weight in on a film or TV project. Because of this, the news that AHS will be about The Mist can't be set in stone until we get some sort of communication from the network.
Then again, American Horror Story: The Mist seems like a perfectly logical theme for Season 6. FX has been releasing a ton of cryptic and vague teasers for the upcoming series, exacerbating how little we actually know about the thriller. FX head honcho John Landgraf has previously stated that within the bevy of teasers for the show, only one of them was actually accurate. Well, lucky for us- The Mist happens to be one such teaser. Check it out below.
Pretty terrifying, right?
It's important to note that Stephen King's novel The Mist is also getting a television adaptation this year. Spike recently ordered the upcoming horror show to series without even having to shoot a pilot. While we don't know the premiere date for the upcoming King based series, having two very similar shows and titles on the air in one year sounds like a legal and viewership mess- making it seem unlikely that American Horror Story would use that concept.
Of course, we'll just have to wait and see whether or not American Horror Story: The Mist actually comes to fruition. It would surely be a tension building concept for the series, but is there enough to make a whole season about it? Maybe not.

All I know is I'm hoping that Lady Gaga's part is meaty this season- last year's Countess was just too good.
