Britney Spears is back in the news in a big way thanks to the release of her latest album, entitled Glory. Throw in her appearance on "Carpool Karaoke" with James Corden and her performance at the MTV Video Music Awards, and Britney has been dominating the music scene. Recently, however, she got into some very non-musical shenanigans during a trip to the mall with Ellen DeGeneres. Craziness ensued, and it's definitely worth the watch. Check it out!
Kudos to Britney Spears for surviving the mall excursion without toppling over at any point! Those heels of hers were definitely not designed with kickboxing in mind, and even she didn't seem sure that she could make it up the down escalator without taking a spill. Her outfit wouldn't have given her much protection if she had tumbled down the escalator. Evidently Ellen didn't warn Britney that they'd be working up a sweat. At least she had sensible footwear for getting into mall mischief.
I'm not sure what my favorite part of the Britney/Ellen excursion actually was. The escalating claims based on their fame were certainly entertaining, and the inspirational speeches to the posse of kids was hilarious, but I might have to go with Britney's responses to some of Ellen's more extreme moves. Certain aspects were pretty clearly scripted and staged, but Britney's reactions to Ellen encouraging kids to get plastic surgery and taking a handful of sprinkles were too genuine to be faked. At the same time, I did have to cringe a few times at how far Ellen took the prank. Talking a woman into fishing out coins in the mall fountain may have been a step too far. Still, the video is definitely worth a few laughs.
Ellen DeGeneres is known for making mischief with famous folks, and plenty of celebrities have fallen victim to classic pranks during appearances on her show. Britney Spears might want to count herself lucky that she was teamed up with the prankster instead of on the receiving end during an interview. Instead of settling down for a sample bed nap at the end of the clip, Britney could have been scared right out of those boots of hers. I'd say she came out on top. And she got a new purse!
