Check Out How Badass Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D'S Ghost Rider Is Going To Be
Season 4 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is fast-approaching. Those of us who have been awaiting the debut of Marvel superhero Ghost Rider ever since his confirmation as an upcoming cast member have little more than a week before we get to see him in action. Luckily, the show has finally released a teaser of what's to come in Season 4, and we got a badass look at what Ghost Rider will bring to the show. Brace yourself for something seriously awesome, and check out the first look of Gabriel Luna in action as the hotheaded vengeance-seeker:
We've known for a while that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be darker than ever before in Season 4, and it looks like Ghost Rider will be a big part of that shift, at least initially. There's not nearly enough footage in the teaser to judge just how dark the show may get with Ghost Rider, but something tells me that a guy who is said to burn souls isn't going to be a barrel of laughs. The Spirit of Vengeance pretty clearly won't be toned down much for the small screen.
This teaser for Season 4 is the first time that any of us have gotten to see a live-action version of Robbie Reyes' Ghost Rider, since the original (played by Nic Cage in the films) went by the name of Johnny Blaze. Robbie Reyes is the latest to go by the name Ghost Rider, and he looks like he'll set S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4 off to a blazing start. Gabriel Luna has already reported that the show is taking advantage of the fact that there is little Marvel material about Robbie Reyes to expand on the Ghost Rider character.
One aspect of Robbie Reyes' comic canon that will be translated to the small screen is his relationship with his brother Gabe, who will be played by Fear the Walking Dead's Lorenzo James Henrie. Robbie's devotion to his disabled younger brother will evidently make him a relatable character to the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. when they encounter him in Season 4. They might have a slightly harder time relating to his awesome fiery car and ability to burn souls, but what's a new character without new conflicts?
The car is definitely one of the highlights of the Season 4 teaser. If there was one thing that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. absolutely had to get right in bringing a version of Ghost Rider to life, it's the vehicle, and Robbie is tied to a muscle car, rather than the motorcycle Johnny Blaze tore up the streets with. Laughable special effects really could have ruined the impact of Robbie Reyes before he got the chance to really prove himself as a character. The car looks like it's going to be positively epic, and it's a major reason to get excited about what's in store when Ghost Rider debuts in the Season 4 premiere. Season 4 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. premieres on Tuesday, September 20 in its new 10 p.m. ET time slot on ABC. Check out our fall TV premiere schedule to see when your other favorite shows will return to the airwaves in the near future.
