Who Jimmy Kimmel Says Is Most In Danger Of Being Mocked At The Emmys

One of the hallmarks of any big awards show is watching the host humorously rip on some of the celebrities sitting in the audience (and sometimes even celebs who aren't.) This TV season, Jimmy Kimmel is hosting the 68th Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony, which is expected to air this weekend. As expected, the late night host will not hold back when it comes to his celebrity barbs. However, he says there is one group that is the most in danger of being mocked at the Emmys. Here's what he had to say:

The people with whom I'm actually friendly are in the most danger usually because I know they can take a joke. That works against them. Being a good sport is the worst thing you can be.

That's right, those who are friends or friendly with Jimmy Kimmel should probably be prepared for a joke or two.

Of all of the late night hosts, Jimmy Kimmel has built a reputation for being a little bit mean-spirited. However, he frequently only pushes it with people he knows can handle that sort of comedy, and a lot of those celebrities he is comfortably poking fun at are his friends. Kimmel has a long-standing "feud" with Matt Damon and has played on-air pranks with some of the other celebs he is acquainted with. During last year's Emmys, he wasn't even the host, and he still managed to crack a couple of the funniest jokes that happened during the night. We're looking forward to seeing what he will do in the hosting position for the second time, and it looks like he will be.

Jimmy Kimmel also joked with People that his position as a late night host on ABC means that he knows nearly everybody. So whether or not they think he's funny in the gig, they are going to have to fake it until they make it, according to the host:

In a way it's better because I know almost everybody in the crowd. I mean, these are people that have all been on my show and they also know the camera is on them, so they have to be pretending to enjoy what I'm doing -- because they know I will find those clips and punish them somehow in the future.

The last time Kimmel hosted the Emmy Awards was in 2012 and honestly, I don't remember him being particularly vicious. He did crack a memorable joke about how President Obama shouldn't be watching Homeland, but other than that, I don't remember him going too far over the line. We'll have to wait and see if this performance is any different.

Luckily, we don't have too much longer to wait. The 68th Annual Emmy Awards air this Sunday night on ABC, starting at 8 p.m. ET. They air live, so be sure to tune in earlier if you are on Central or Pacific time. In addition, you can find out when the rest of your favorite shows are returning with our fall TV premiere schedule.
